How did you first discover fingerboarding, and how long has it been?
Ive been fingerboarding for 2 years but skated as long as I can remember. It actually traces back to a weird rabbit hole I fell into about something called the ideomotor effectβthe idea that tiny, unconscious muscle movements can be influenced by thought alone. I started wondering how much control we really have over those micro-movements. Like, if you shrink a physical activity down enough, does it stop being βskillβ and start becoming something closer to subconscious intention? At some point it stopped feeling like I was doing tricks and more like I was observing how small impulses translate into motion. The board reacts to movements that are almost too small to noticeβtiny shifts in pressure, timing, even hesitation. Itβs weirdly precise, but also slightly out of your control. So when people ask why I do it, I usually just say: I got interested in how thought leaks into movement, and this is the smallest place I found where you can actually watch it happen.
