How did surfing first become part of your life, and what does it mean to you now?
Surfing kind of snuck into my life.
At first I just thought it looked fun and like a good excuse to spend more time in the ocean. But somewhere along the way it became a lot more than that.
What I love about surfing is that it forces me to slow down. When I’m out there, I’m not thinking about work, bills, social media, or everything I need to get done. I’m just focused on the next wave.
I’m still learning and I fall all the time, but I think that’s part of the appeal. Surfing has a way of reminding you that progress isn’t always pretty. Some days you catch great waves, some days you get humbled, and both are part of it.
These days, surfing is one of the few places where I feel completely present. That’s what keeps me coming back.
