It still hurts when I think about how so many people I know don’t care to even tell us apart, basically showing that they don’t care about us individually.

Is there a way to tell you apart?

supposedly, though most people can’t

Are you indentical or fraternal?

identical

How far apart are you?

a minute (or less ig)

Do you share a special connection? Do you have twin telepathy?

Special connection yes but not telepathy, nothing supernatural

Do people mistake you for each other, how have you used that to your advantage?

yes they do, it is only an advantage when I pretend to be her around someone she doesn’t know so that I don’t have to talk to them.

Did you ever dress alike?

Occasionally, usually the same thing in different colors

Favorite memory together?

any time we make each other laugh so hard it hurts, we’re both so funny and have to much fun together a lot of the time.

(For Identical Twins) Do you ever do anything to look less alike?

eh, it’s always a thought when you change something. like a haircut or style choice. it’s not a REASON, but it is a factor.

Do you have the same personalities and interests?

yes and no. we’re similar like sisters/friends are, but different. she’s more blunt and an extrovert and i’m a bit softer and an introvert.

How do you celebrate your birthdays?

we don’t always celebrate, usually no different than other people, just two names in the song.

What was the most embarrassing situation you ever found yourself in because you’re a twin?

probably people comparing us and pointing out an embarrassing physical characteristic

Have you struggled with your identity?

absolutely, especially in middle school. it still hurts when i think about how so many people i know don’t care to even tell us apart, basically showing that they don’t care about us individually.

Do you sometimes compare yourself to your twin?

yeah, i’m not proud of it but I do. I compare myself to everyone though.

What effects does being a twin have on your life?

I’m beyond grateful to have her. It has hurt my confidence and identity growing up but I’ve always had her and always will and that outweighs the negatives.

“you’re prettier/uglier/fatter/skinnier” “who cares, you’re basically the same person”

What’s the biggest fight you’ve ever had with your twin?

over dumb stuff, i can’t even remember specifically

Growing up, how was your relationship with your twin?

best friends. beyond it, I couldn’t imagine life without her.

How is your relationship with your twin now?

It’s the same, we’ve just been through more and now have more experience and memories together.

What are the biggest misconceptions about twins?

That one has to be A and the other B. Like one is smart one dumb, one boyish one girly, etc. That we can feel each other’s pain, that we can read each other’s minds. that any twins would be down for a threesome bc wtf.

What are disadvantages of being a twin?

identity struggle, not being seen as/treated as your own person.

What are advantages of being a twin?

having a best friend who gets you more than anyone ever will

What are things to NOT say to twins?

“you’re fatter/have worse skin/better whatever” just don’t compare us unless it’s something that doesn’t matter like a haircut or freckles. and “What’s it like being a twin?”

Say something to twins

you are your own person. if you have problems with feeling that way, don’t resent your twin for it, it is not your guys’ fault. it’s okay to find your own things and split apart a little bit. always treat your twin well, they should be your best friend.

Say something to parents of twins

treat your kids like their own people. don’t compare them. DON’T COMPARE THEM.

Do you sometimes wish you weren’t a twin?

i used to, now i’m chill with it. in fact, I would never change it for the world.

Do you actually like being a twin?

yes

More about your experience as a twin

twins tend to be more empathetic in my experience. like in my experience we’re genuinely nicer, more understanding, and better at sharing than individuals. probably bc we’ve always had to share/have a companion to develop our social awareness with.
