i’ve made tons of friends along the way and met so many cool people because of this hobby

Tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from and how did fingerboarding come into your life?

Hi my name is x, and i’m from coney island new york, and im 18, and ive pretty much been skating all my life and honestly from growing up ive always skated, so my dad actually had some older techdecks which he passed down to me and thats kinda how it came into my life !

Is skateboarding part of your life at all, and how does it relate to fingerboarding for you?

yes it plays a huge role in my life i’ve done it for so long now haha, mainly because like the struggle of learning a new trick and the feeling you get once you’ve landed that trick that you had been battle for minutes, days, even hours, or days that sensation of actually landing it and accomplishment of joy from landing it is like an actual skateboard experience!!!

Who were some of your earliest inspirations in skating or fingerboarding, and how did they influence your style?

mainly chris joslin and his style is just so perfect to me and ive always looked up to his skating style and just how every trick he does its like perfected and effortlessly done or completed i always find his style just so effortless and perfected always landing bolts, and also stevehates skating i kinda interpret his like videos on landing everything perfectly too but mainly chris joslin !!!

What was your first setup like, and what companies or riders stood out to you at the time?

it was actually a teak tuning complete it was the full black 32mm one and i had no clue how to set it up so my mom did but it was pretty good for a complete board it definitely upped my game and skill for fingerboarding, and i would say like black river and flat face at that time was the main brands i’ve seen everywhere but the lowkey was teak tuning because of the price was more affordable than them but for riders definitely mike schneider for sure and jay linen or something idk his last name

What keeps you motivated and coming back to it?

the journey that came with it for sure, i’ve made tons of friends along the way and met so many cool people because of this hobby and that’s what motivates me more than anything is just friends and family and the support that i get from doing what i love to do !!!

Tell us about your current setup and your favorite tricks to do.

i have a couple but the main ones i use are, 1 a berlinwood 32? i think with joycult indy trucks and oak wheels, 2 a wack 34m board with black river trucks and lab street wheels, 3 a 32 nosco deck with indy trucks and piro streets i think their called, favorite trick i would have to say is sw or nollie heel is my favorite to do

How would you describe the fingerboarding community from your own experience?

it’s really supportive and like open you know? like you can make a lot of friends with doing this and it’s just a overall good community like yeah there’s people that just resell like some brands but the actual people who ride and that stuff is sick, it’s open and the best community i’ve seen so far

How do you feel about the cost of fingerboarding products today?

it’s a bit pricey for a “hobby” but quality costs money so if you want the best of the best it’s gonna cost you yk? but it’s a bit crazy of the cost like knife boards are going for 250$ a deck which is crazy and like black river trucks are 50$ plus 50 for shipping so it’s 100$ for a pair of trucks yk? but it’s neutral for me but others might have different takes

P.S. Feel free to add anything else you’d like to share.

since i’ve spent a lot of time into it yk your gonna have moments where you don’t wanna do it anymore or wanna quit but there’s a whole community that would help you achieve those goals or tricks you wanna land you just bave to put time into this hobby so that it would work you know? i’ve been doing this for 9 years so i have experience with everything so take it at your own pace and just have fun cause that’s all it is, it’s just hanging with friends and fingerboarding we don’t have to take this hobby seriously, just enjoy it and have fun with it is all i have to say !!!
